I think it's fair to say that one of my less attractive character traits is a complete and utter lack of patience with stupid people, and today I've been surrounded by them! And you may be surprised to hear I'm not talking about Harry or Mark! :)
First off the health visitor came to see us again today. I've been assigned to a different health visitor to when I had Tully. She came a couple of weeks ago and I found her a bit wet, patronising and irritating but thought I'd give her the benefit of the doubt but she really got on my nerves today. When she left I lay Harry on the sofa whilst I saw her out and she told me that it's a very bad thing to do. I'd been doing my best to be polite in the face of her irritating ways (not something I'm good at) and had done well until this point where I commented that if he rolled off he'd only do it once unless he was very stupid... I know she was just doing her job but I'd had enough. Mark commented later that it's probably best not to antagonise her up as she'll be on the look out for child abuse. Mmmm...
She's coming back in a couple of weeks to do the 'baby blues' questionnaire to see if I've got postnatal depression. I remember it from last time and was the most pointless thing I've ever encountered - I don't believe that it would help identify someone that does have postnatal depression at all. I wonder if there's a new answer in the multiple choice to indicate that I wasn't depressed until I had to put up with her banal conversation for half an hour...
The other idiot was the cleaner that forgot her key. I was there when she arrived so let her in but later I walked into town, only to get a call from her later asking if it was ok for her to leave the house unlocked when she'd finished. Of course it isn't you stupid woman... So I ended up giving up on my list of things I needed to do and legged it back. I know I could avoid this by not being so decadent to still have the cleaner come but still...!

If it's any consolation I too have a different HV than I had with Sunshine and I too find her a bit patronising too...but she seems to leg it before I can depress her with my banal chatter! ;-)
